Battlefords Agricultural Society hosts a sale of gifts and crafts on mistletoe
“It is mandatory because we are a public institution,” said Battlefords Agricultural Society chief executive Jocelyn Ritchie of the precautions. “We will be watching everyone at the gate as they enter. ”
She hopes for a good exit for the show.
“It’s a great sale. There is something for everyone and there is a lot of craftsmanship, ”she said.
Some home businesses have also reserved seats for the event.
“You can get some very unique gifts for your Christmas shopping or if you want to redecorate your home,” Ritchie said. “There are all kinds of things you can find on our show.”
Products for sale include everything from carpentry, crafts, and metalworking to beautiful scented candles, jewelry, and knitted items.
So far, around 25 vendors have registered to participate.
“We don’t have as many tables as we normally would,” said Ritchie. “It’s very well spaced. We have a lot of sanitation [with] hand sanitizers. It is very safe.
There is still an opportunity for more sellers to book if they contact the company in the next few days.
The organizers also plan to have a concession stand and a few tables for people to rest and have a bite to eat during their visit.
“I encourage everyone to come over for a homemade snack or soup,” Ritchie said. “It’s going to be two very pleasant days, and the weather will be wonderful. ”
Ritchie said that over the past few years there was often a nasty storm on one of the days of the event, so she’s grateful to see that this year blue skies are expected instead.
Admission to attend the event is $ 5. The show is also a fundraiser for the Battlefords Agricultural Society, a non-profit organization, through the purchase of tickets and vendor booth fees.
“Please come support the agricultural society if you like what we do throughout the year,” said Ritchie. “Normally we have all kinds of different activities. I know just about everyone in our community has attended something here or used our facilities in the past.
Note that annual Battlefords Agricultural Society memberships are now on sale for $ 25 through the organization, by the end of January 2022. After that, the price will drop to $ 50.
Ritchie added that the company is also always looking for more volunteers if anyone is willing to help with future activities.
“If you want to volunteer or sit on a committee, give us a call,” she said.
