Battlefords Agricultural Society planning event with country singer Jaydee Bixby
See you on March 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the AgriVilla, the company will host a special evening of dinner and entertainment called “Evening Out”.
The guest artist for the show is Canadian country music artist Jaydee Bixby and her band.
The Alberta-based talent, a former finalist on Canadian Idol, has recorded three CDs over the years. Bixby said he was looking forward to coming to the area to perform.
“It’s going to be a big country crowd,” he said battlefordsNOW. “I’m really happy to be doing these shows again… We’ll be doing a lot of my own stuff. But I’m a big fan of classic country, so we’ll be honoring what I call country music legends.
The evening will include a fully catered dinner, as well as door prizes and a silent auction, with proceeds going to the agricultural society.

“It should be a really good event,” Ritchie said. battlefordsNOW. “We will of course put restrictions in place and keep everyone safe… It should just be a good night for everyone to get out and relax.”
Later, the agricultural society will hold its first spring housing exhibition. The event replaces the former Agrimex agricultural, trade and housing fair.
The event will be much broader to include recreational products, such as RVs and boats, as well as agricultural products, and “absolutely anything you can think of,” Ritchie said.
April 22 and 23 at the AgriPlex and AgriVilla buildings, the show will also include a pancake breakfast on Saturday.
Again, everyone will need to be fully vaccinated to attend. The stands at the show will be well separated to allow for social distancing.
“We really hope that we will have sellers who have gardening, all kinds of houses [products], business, hobbies, sports, farm equipment, car sales, boat sales — all kinds of things,” Ritchie said. “There will be something for everyone.”
Ritchie added that she would like to see some vendors also offer demonstrations and small workshops if possible during the event.
“We hope to attract absolutely everyone we can,” she said, adding that a few vendors have already signed up to participate.
