Egypt exports 350 agricultural products to around 150 countries every year

CAIRO – August 31, 2022: Ministry of Agriculture and Land Development spokesman Mohamed al-Qersh said in a conference call on Wednesday that Egypt exports 350 agricultural products to around 150 countries each year.

The spokesperson pointed out that the export season has already started and the amount shipped so far is 4.5 million tons.

Earlier in August, the ministry said the country’s main agricultural exports were citrus fruits, potatoes, onions, grapes, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, strawberries, beans, guavas, mangoes, garlic and watermelons.

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued a statement in August detailing the exports, which decreased in value in May 2022, despite the increase in the total value of exports on an annual basis of 18, 3% to $4.01 billion from $3.39 billion.

Fresh fruit exports decreased the most by 23.5% to $123.1 million in May 2022 from $160.9 million in May 2021. The next category is pulp and preserves, their value having fallen by 13.7% to reach $70.9 million instead of $82.2 million. .

Exports of pharmaceuticals fell 10.3% to $22.5 million from $25.1 million. Similarly, textile exports fell 8.2% to $17 million from $18.6 million.

As for plastics, their exports fell by 3.9% to $17.6 million instead of $18.3 million. Aldo, flat-rolled iron and steel products were down 1% to $60.2 million from $60.8 million.

Regarding the exports whose value has soared, these are those of petroleum and liquefied gas (44.1%) and crude oil (30.7%). The value of the former reached $726.4 million from $504 million. As for the latter, he scored $389 million against $297.7 million.
