Not an inch of farmland given to a stranger: LG Sinha

Lt. Gov. Manoj Sinha said on Thursday that not an inch of farmland has been given to a foreigner in Jammu and Kashmir.

LG Manoj Sinha, who kicked off Apple Festival 2021 at SKICC Srinagar, told farmers that no farmland has been given to a foreigner and protecting Jammu and Kashmir’s land is the responsibility of the government of Jammu and Kashmir.

The festival brought together the main apple growers and farmers of the Kashmir region.

Manoj Sinha, according to the Kashmir News Trust, said some interested people were trying to build a false narrative that farmland is being given to foreigners. He said the protection of agricultural land in Jammu and Kashmir is the primary responsibility of the government.

Shortly after the climax of the office, Manoj Sinha, in response to a question, said the government had previously declared that the recent damage to apple orchards from snowfall was a natural calamity and those who suffered will be compensated.

He said several “anti-farmer” laws in Jammu and Kashmir have been amended to boost horticultural activities. (KNT)
